Tunnel and TBM Training
Over the last two years, TRHA has been reviewing the scope of service it provides to the tunnelling industry and in particular those services which have often been provided in parallel with our core hyperbaric support package.
Due to our skills base, knowledge and experience, we have often been asked to develop and deliver bespoke health & safety courses, alongside our hyperbaric support; to date these have always remained project or task specific and as such have never been properly “formalised”.
Whilst the additional training we have been providing has always been acknowledged as being highly professional and directly Tunnel / TBM relevant, client feedback and also industry“ trending” is clearly indicating that all such training needs to be delivered on a formal, organised basis, have appropriate quality control and carry some form of endorsement or qualification.
With this in mind, we have been specifically looking to further develop our courses and offer them in a formal format which yields a legally recognised endorsement or accreditation. Initially we have tried to target training areas where we feel there is a clear “need” and also a current lack of suitable Tunnel / TBM specific options on the market and to this end, we are now in a position to offer a formalised courses for;
TBM / Tunnel Rescue
TRHA Emergency Rescue for Tunnels Under Construction and Tunnel Boring Machines. This course is fully accredited by the CABWI Awarding Body (cabwi.co.uk) and carries an “Ofqual” Level 3 Qualification – CABWI Ref TRHA1 Ofqual Ref 603/5279/6
TBM / Tunnel Trauma Care
TRHA Trauma Care and Safe Recovery from Tunnels and Tunnel Boring Machines: This course is fully accredited by the CABWI Awarding Body (cabwi.co.uk) and carries an “Ofqual” Level 3 Qualification – CABWI Ref TRHA2 Ofqual Ref 603/7098/1
Refuge Chamber Training (and Support)
TRHA TBM Refuge Chamber Training
By default, the layout, ergonomics and control systems for Refuge Chambers differ according to design, supplier and TBM diameter, so at this point we have been advised that we cannot offer an accredited course that would cover all; but we can offer related supports and courses on a project specific basis which are self-endorsed (3rdParty) in line with CABWI criteria.
Also please note from the Refuge Chamber (Services page) that TRHA has an exclusive relationship with Refuge Chamber Manufacturer “WeWalter” all training we provide on WeWalter Systems is fully endorsed by them.

Tunnel and TBM Training
